There are many ways to get involved and the success of our program depends on the support of parents and guardians.

Attending our monthly Band Parent Meetings is a great way to better understand the needs of the band and how you can best serve the program. We meet the first Thursday of every month (during the school year) at 6pm in the EHS Band Room. From time to time we have to move this meeting—so check the schedule to be certain.

Additionally, we have an optional Band Parent Team digital group chat on the BAND app, for parents who want to get more involved, where you'll be the first to know of needs that arise.

If you want to help out in a way that involves supervising any band members (football games, field trips, etc.), consider the Chaperone Requirements below.

Chaperone Requirements

In order to Chaperone an event, you have to have Level 2 Security Clearance through the Lake County School Board. If you are a teacher at a Lake County School, you should already have clearance.

Each step does not take much time to complete, but it does take some time between steps, so we recommend starting the process as soon as you are able if you are at all interested in chaperoning during your student's time in the band.

This clearance is good for three years.

How to Apply for Level 2 Clearance

  1. Apply on the Lake County Schools Online Volunteer Application Portal (The application is currently closed until September 8th, 2026.)

  2. Email Mr. Flenner at flennerm@lake.k12.fl.us to let him know you have begun the Level 2 Clearance process.

  3. Look for an email from the Lake County School Board with instructions on how to schedule your fingerprinting. They will manually review your application and check your documents. This email can take up to 20 days to arrive. If you do not receive an email within 20 days, you can reach out to volunteers@lake.k12.fl.us. Please check your Spam and Promotions folders before you do so, to make sure the email didn't land there.

  4. Schedule, then attend your fingerprinting appointment.

  5. Look for an email with your clearance. You can expect this to take about 7 business days.

  6. Once you've received your clearance, email Mr. Flenner at flennerm@lake.k12.fl.us to let him know you are ready to volunteer!
